Week 9 Write-up by Southport Skegs (’25-’26)

As an ongoing experiment this year in Big League Fantasy Football, the weekly write-ups will be authored courtesy of various members of the League. If you would like to contribute a post, let Turner know.

What a week! The Bears blew a 14-point lead with 2 minutes left and somehow managed to win.
It was the stupidest game of football I have ever watched. I’ll be honest: I don’t really pay
attention to the NFL outside of the Bears. The Sunday night Bill Simmons podcast usually keeps
me in the loop with the rest of the league, but I have been too busy trying to reopen the
government.

Anyway! Onto the recap:

Highest Points Scored

Several teams picked up a whole bunch of points, with the likes of the Skid Marks, LA Ice-
Melters, and Southport Skegs breaking the 140 mark. Endzone Jones takes the crown here with
164.3 points thanks to the balanced attack of Justin Herbert, Michael Pittman, Jr., Rashee Rice,
Marvin Harrison, Jr., and Week 9’s best find, Kyle Monangai. Despite Who’s Nailin Jailen?’s
impressive 135.74 output, Endzone Jones comfortably earned the W.

Matchup of the Week

I first must give a shoutout to my very own Southport Skegs, who ended its seven-game losing
streak over Jordan Loves Younghoes. It has been seven weeks of unlucky results, somehow
garnering a Florian Wirtz comparison in German in the Week 7 write-up. Ouch. With more
points than two of the teams above it in the division, the Skegs’ Pythagorean record is surely
much better than its 2-7 mark. There’s a whole lotta season left.

Alas, the Skeggies took care of business, so Week 9’s best matchup goes to the rock fight
between Ward and Peace and Hock out with My KOC Out. This relatively low-scoring affair was
a result of both teams picking biggest-bust-of-the-week Rome Odunze, who was barely seen and
heard during the Bears wacky win on Sunday. HOWMKO managed to pull off the 109.9-103.24
victory thanks to Kyle Monangai, the Rams defense, and (somehow) Cairo Santos.
